We have a brand new venue for the 2022 Northumbria Masters:

St Mary’s Catholic School, Benton Park Road, Newcastle upon Tyne NE7 7PE

The school is situated in a modern (2010) campus 2 minutes’ walk from Longbenton Metro station, which is a 20-minute Metro journey from Newcastle Central Station, and a 35-minute Metro journey from Newcastle International Airport. By road, St. Mary’s is 3 miles from Junction 77 of the A1(M).

There is a wide range of hotel and B&B accommodation available in Jesmond (2 miles away, 30 minutes’ walk), Newcastle City Centre (3 miles away) and Gosforth (3 miles away).

I am pleased to announce that we will have a full range of tournaments to suit all players:

Northumbria Masters Open (FIDE-rated, 26-30 August) – Open to all players, 9-round Swiss, eligible for title norms.

Northumbria Challengers (FIDE-rated, 26-30 August) – For players Under 2000 FIDE, 9-round Swiss.

Northumbria Major (ECF-rated, 26-30 August) – For players Under 1750 ECF, 9-round Swiss.

Northumbria Minor (ECF-rated, 26-30 August) – For players Under 1500 ECF, 9-round Swiss.

Northumbria Junior Rapidplay (FIDE-rated, 26 August) – For players aged Under 18 on 1/1/2022, 5-round Swiss.
